Help your Friend to Make her Wedding Unforgettable

My friend is getting married in six months and she has asked me to help out with the wedding preparations. This was the situation given to me last year. The first thing that came to mind was, “panic”. I was happy for her but I was very nervous. I hadn’t helped anyone with wedding preparations before. So the first thing I did was a proper net search.

On the net I found lots of information regarding wedding planning. So, I took a lot of ideas from the various articles I read on the net. As we were on a budget, I also had to come up with new ideas. The first hurdle I encountered was work. So, I decided to move in with my friend till her wedding day because going to her house every day after work was tiring. We stayed up nights discussing seating arrangements, venue decorations, the menu, the wedding dress.

We decided to keep everything as simple as possible. As I stayed with the bride to be, taking decisions was a lot easier for me. But we were also getting confused on what to plan first. Therefore we made a schedule.

Venue

The first thing we booked was the venue. During the wedding season, we knew that if didn’t book the venue on time we would be left with very few options. Thankfully we found the perfect venue on our second day of ‘venue hunting’.

Decor

We decided on the combination of lavender and silver. So the reception area was given a classy and chic look by draping it with silver and lavender tissue and different silhouettes. We also decided on fresh flowers to give the venue a clean yet elegant look.

Menu

We appointed good caterers to take care of the food bit. So, we first sat down with them and chalked out a simple menu. As it would be an afternoon reception, we stuck to delicate flavours. We also went to a renowned bakery to order the wedding cake. We stuck to classic chocolate with royal icing.

The wedding dress

When we went to buy the wedding dress, we were in a fix as everything looked so perfect. After hours of discussions and try-outs, we finally agreed on one.

My gift to her

Amidst all the wedding paraphernalia, I had forgotten to buy the wedding gift. But yet again, the internet saved me. I found amazing wedding gifts online. They were well within my budget and I didn’t even have to venture out to buy it. One night, a few days before the wedding, when everyone was asleep I went online and ordered the gift. It was delivered, well wrapped, to my friend the day before her wedding. She was pleasantly surprised to receive it and I was happy she liked it.

After six months of planning and lots of hard work, the wedding went off just as planned. The guests were satisfied and my friend was glad that her wedding was a success.
